Simple Steps for Exploring Anal

Posted by Salvatore Gallano, MS on Nov 18th 2021

Exploring anal stimulation doesn’t have to be a scary or daunting endeavor. If done in a mindful manner, anal exploration should be comfortable and gratifying. In the year 2021 anal sex play is no longer taboo, for the very “out-there” crowd, or gay males. Anal is being embraced by all kinds of people, as it should be. I’m personally truly glad to see males come into Studio 21 ltd for their first prostate toy and every time I sell an anal training kit.

Follow the steps below to help you demystify anal play and finally take the plunge:

  1. Choose a toy: As a beginner you don’t want to choose a toy that is too weighty (no glass or metal), too wide, or too long. Something thin, short, and light is a good starting toy. A silicone toy is a good idea since silicone is a very smooth and velvety material. Starting out with a straightforward butt plug that doesn’t do anything too extravagant, might be a good idea (save vibration and thrusting for later!).
  2. Clean-up: To keep things clean and sanitary, you’re going to want to have a bowel movement (yes, poop!). This will ensure the path is clear and ready. Also, take a shower: thoroughly clean the outside of the anus and about an inch inside with a finger. Use mild soap and make sure your fingers are clean.
  3. Try a Finger First: To take things slow and gradual, use your finger first. Insert and leave it inside the anus for a little while. Try a little twist and turn and sit with those sensations. It might feel a little awkward at first, but that will pass the more you explore.
  4. Use Lots of Lube: Use a water-based or hybrid lube if your toy is silicone. This will provide the utmost comfort and care when exploring your delicate backdoor. Lube reduces friction and prevents irritation and/or micro tearing of the tissues in the anal region.
  5. Massage the Anus: This is an important step that many people mistakenly skip over. It’s no wonder people say they’ve “tried it and didn’t like it.” You essentially have to wake-up the anus. As you massage and gradually insert your finger the anus will start to relax, loosen, and open. Once your anus is relaxed you can begin to insert the butt plug. You will feel some pressure, but you shouldn’t feel any severe pain or discomfort.
  6. Keep in Mind: Deep breathing during anal play and going slow with your exploration is key to achieving the wondrous pleasure that awaits you.

I hope now you feel anal stimulation is more approachable and a little less scary. It doesn’t have to be some complicated, unattainable mystery. A lot of people are into anal play, it just has never been discussed openly- until now. Like I said, it’s no longer taboo. Armed with the steps above, it doesn’t have to be complicated either!
